Dan Kepner
Having studied at Stevens Trade as a young adult, it was natural for me to seek out someone who could teach me to make furniture in the Primitive style. I convinced Jim Smithgall, master craftsman of fine furniture and a former Stevens Trade instructor, to teach me how to make Windsor chairs. Over the last 15 years, I have added additional styles of Windsor chairs to my inventory, as well as a variety of harvest tables, blanket chests, and hanging corner cabinets. Each piece is hand painted in a variety of faux finishes. For the last ten years, my furniture has been featured in stores in Manhattan, Lambertville, New Hope and Lancaster. A Lancaster County Side Chair of mine was featured on the front cover of Country Living Magazine in the fall of 2003. I continue to enjoy my love of the past as I recreate pieces of furniture that will become our future antiques!
