Art is my voice, a voice that comes from the power that moves people to think, act or react to it. I create my works to please myself and to explore the release of my thoughts and emotions. The simplicity, elegance and motion of paper draw me to this medium.
I find that by manipulating individual handmade sheets of paper, I can create images that are textually complex and by custom blending pigmented pulp, unique color and effects take shape. The paper for my pieces are 100% first cut cotton linter that is beaten and individually hand dyed with aqueous dispersed pigments formulated specifically for the coloring of paper pulp. The paper is then formed with my papermaker's mold and deckle. Each sheet is separately shaped and sculpted. Once the paper dries, it is sealed with an archival glue to maintain its form and to ensure protection. After this application dries, luster pigments are often added to emphasize various elements of the piece. He custom frames each piece using museum-quality materials.
