Ellen Slupe
Ellen Slupe earned a Bachelor of Science in Pre Med Biology from Elizabethtown College. At the Hershey Medical Center she developed an interest in cellular physiology while working with an electron microscope. The random microscopic components seen floating in cellular spaces would later influence her abstract art. In mid-career, art classes led to full time study at Millersville University and matriculated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree accompanied with the Hustead Art History Award. Entering the art world with a background in science and art history provides an amazing repertoire of information and ideas to develop.
The Lancaster, PA artist exhibits in regional and national juried shows, and invitational exhibits at museums, colleges and universities. She exhibited in Florence and Venice, Italy, Japan and Korea. Writing reviews of local art exhibits for Art Matters, a Philadelphia art publication, co-owning Pfenninger Gallery in Lancaster were launching pads for freelance writings and continued art career. She serves on the board of New Arts Program in Kutztown, PA.
